The quality name in control valves

Proper air and water control are essential to an efficient irrigation system. Improper hydraulic design of your irrigation system can lead to pressure fluctuations and water hammer which can damage pumps, break pipes, and decrease flow efficiency. For a functional, efficient system that you can depend on, install Nelson Control Valves. Save water, save energy, and do a better job of irrigating.

Nelson Irrigation manual control valve

Manual On-Off

The MANUAL ON-OFF model of the 800 Series Control Valve is a hydraulically operated sleeve type valve with a manual control function.

The MANUAL ON-OFF control is used to open or close the valve. The flow through the valve is controlled by a rubber sleeve which is actuated by hydraulic pressure. The valve is either in the fully opened or the closed (shut off) position. The “AUTO” position on the selector has no effect on valve control but is used when the valve is equipped with automatic controls. The manual selector can be used to hold the valve partly open by opening the valve part way and then pointing the selector handle midway between “OPEN” and “CLOSE”.

Electric Valve Control Georgia

Electric On-Off

The ELECTRIC ON-OFF model of the 800 Series Control Valve is a hydraulically operated sleeve type valve with an electric solenoid control.

The flow through the valve is controlled by a rubber sleeve which is actuated by hydraulic pressure. The valve is either in the fully opened or the closed (shut off) position when operated electrically. When the selector is pointed to the “AUTO” position then the electric solenoid is used to automatically open or close the valve. The 3-way electric solenoid must be energized to open the valve and de-energized to close the valve. Pointing the manual selector handle to “OPEN” or “CLOSE” will override the “AUTO” control. The manual selector can be used to hold the valve partly open by opening the valve part way and then pointing the selector handle midway between “OPEN” and “CLOSE”.

Pressure Control Products

Pressure Control

Pressure control valves react or respond through a pressure control regulator.

The basic body can be equipped with several different control packages in various combinations for controlling pressure and flow in large piping systems. The pressure control regulator directs water flow which positions the sleeve during operation. If the control function is pressure reducing, the sleeve position (or flow through the valve) is controlled by downstream pressure. If the control function is pressure sustaining or relief, the sleeve position is controlled by upstream pressure. It's also engineered for extremely high efficiency, resulting in low friction loss and high capacity. It's light weight and compact for ease of shipping, handling and service.

Nelson Irrigation Rate of Flow

Rate-of-Flow

The Nelson 800 Series valve can be equipped with the Rate-Of-Flow (Model D18) control to regulate the flow rate passing through the valve.

The Rate-Of-Flow works by means of a flow sensing paddle in the flow on the upstream side of the valve. It is a significant advancement in accuracy because it works independent of line pressure responding only to the flow velocity impinging upon the sensing paddle. This Rate-Of-Flow control is an option which can be combined with most other pressure and electric controls used on the 800 Series valve.

The main application for Rate-Of-Flow is during system fill to avoid unwanted water hammer or surges which can damage system pipes.  The Nelson Rate-Of-Flow control has been designed for efficiency and causes insignificant pressure loss. The control has a calibrated adjustment screw for simple setting and can work over a wide range of flow rate. The Rate-Of-Flow Control is designed to fit into the valve but can optionally be located in an adjacent upstream section of pipe.  Maintain stable hydraulic conditions with Nelson 800 Series Control Valves.

Valve Control

QC Valve

The Nelson Quick Coupler makes portable Big Gun® irrigation faster and easier than ever before. A quick twist attaches the gun and key to the valve. Simply connect the hydraulic assist and the gun goes into action. The shutoff and disconnect cycle is just as fast and easy.
